A FAMILY fundraiser will be held in Bentley’s this Sunday night in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
The O’Connell Street bar will from 5pm welcome DJs, face painters, magicians and dancers for the event, where it is hoped more than €1,000 will be raised for the crucial work of the Irish Cancer Society.
There will be entertainment for both children and adults alike, according to Moyross man Martin O’Halloran, who is co-organising the event with Roy Anthony Flanagan.
Popular dance troupe Flawless will perform, while a DJ will pump out chart music from 5pm to the close of the evening.
The beer garden in Bentley’s will also host a barbecue from 5pm to 7.30pm.
And Martin added that they are hoping to get magician Leon Anderson to perform at the event.
In order to raise more than €1,000, there will be a raffle with spot prizes, and bucket collections throughout the evening.
“It’s a really great cause. I am hoping the money can go to helping others who have cancer. On ticket sales alone, we are hoping to make €500. Then we have permits to do collections on the roads, raffles on the night, and spot prizes. Many people I know have received a lot of help from the Irish Cancer Society, and this is just a way of saying thanks for all that,” Martin told the Limerick Chronicle.
Tickets for the event cost €10 for an adult, and €4 for children, with the price including barbecue food.
All the proceeds will go to the Irish Cancer Society.
Tickets are available from Roy Flanagan on 085-7174030, or Martin O’Halloran at 086-3922006.
Representatives of the Irish Cancer Society will come to Limerick next week to pick up what is hoped to be a large cheque from the fundraising evening.
Meanwhile, Martin hopes in future to also raise money for the Jack and Jill Foundation, the Share a Dream charity, and the Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
