The festival which was launched in O’Connell’s Galtee House, Galbally on Monday night, incorporates a wide variety of attractions for all age groups culminating in the highlight – the 36th annual Galbally Garden Fete on the closing Sunday afternoon.

The garden fete, an event that has truly stood the test of time, will feature TG4 Glór Tire winner Michael Collins and his band from Tournafulla in addition to a diverse range of ancillary attractions.

Included are a display by Carron Model Flying Club of Limerick Junction, open air bingo, the Liam Lynch Memorial Pipe, a wheel of fortune, carnival amusements and much more.

The Galbally Garden Fete Weekend will kick off with a family forest walk on Friday, August 29 taking in the popular Darby’s Bed Loop.

Then, on Saturday, there is a very special all-day event - Féile Galbhaile which features set dancing workshops, a ceilí, historical walk led by Jim Fitzgerald and Tim Ryan, storytelling by Eddie Linehan and a gala concert which features Bobby Gardiner and other illustrious performers from the world of traditional music.

“We are hoping to make the 35th annual Galbally Garden Fete a successful fundraiser for local community projects,” explained Sinead Barrett, secretary Galbally Community Council.
