Circus fun, theatre performances and dramatisations of Celtic legends are planned for this summer season.

The regional tourist body is marking Limerick City of Culture with two special events taking place at King John’s Castle. A magical Salmon of Knowledge puppet and costumed event is running daily this week until Sunday, with shows at 11am with extra shows this weekend at 2pm.

At Bunratty Castle this Saturday and Sunday, Fossett’s Circus will play two daily shows at 1pm and 5pm. Visitors can enjoy free rides on Victorian Carousels, Swing Boats and more.

Speaking about the upcoming programme of events, Shannon Heritage Chief Executive John Ruddle said: “This is our most extensive summer entertainment programme yet. We wanted to offer our local community, overseas and regular visitors an opportunity to experience cultural, heritage and fun events.”

On July 20, Jane Austen’s, Sense and Sensibility will be brought to life by Chapterhouse Theatre Group in the setting of King John’s Castle.
