THE Limerick Leader can confirm that Bruce Springsteen is set to play in Thomond Park next year.
The Boss - and his E-Street Band - will play a massive gig in the stadium on July 16, 2013.
Tickets will go on sale on December 6 at 9am, priced at €90 for general admission and €100 seated.
The announcement, made by Aiken Promotions this lunchtime, confirms speculation first reported by the Limerick Leader over two weeks ago that a deal with Springsteen to return to Ireland was close to being finalised.
In fact, the deal was only confirmed last night. He is also to play gigs in Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh on July 18 and Belfast’s Kings Hall Arena on July 20.
Meetings took place in recent weeks, with officials going as far as to measure the pitch for the specifications of Springsteen’s massive show at the Munster rugby HQ.
News that Springsteen’s Wrecking Ball Tour is extending into 2013 comes as the tour was awarded ‘Top Draw’ by Billboard Magazine for having the top attendance out of any other tour in 2012.
