Transition Year students in the Crescent College Comprehensive are busy fitting in the last few dress rehearsals and fine tuning their singing voices for the opening night of their TY musical extravaganza High School Musical on December 5.
The school has a long history of high quality musical productions and in recent years TY classes have performed a variety of concerts including Hairspray, Jesus Christ Superstar and Dr. Seuss’ Seussical.
This year the TY class will be presenting the well known Disney classic High School Musical which tells the story of basketball star Troy and brainy Gabriella as they discover a shared love of singing and performing. The show is directed by Tony Cusack who is also currently preparing for this year’s Limerick Panto Society production of Beauty and the Beast. Mr Cusack said he was amazed at the level of talented singers and actors in the class and praised the commitment and hard work of all involved in the project.
“I have been amazed by the effort and enthusiasm shown by the Crescent students. They’re 100 per cent committed after school, during mid-term break and on weekends and that’s what has made this show possible,” he said.
The show will open on Wednesday, December 5 with a matinee performance at 12.15pm. The show will also run on December 6 and 7 at 7.30pm and Saturday, December 8 at 8.30pm.
Tickets are available from the school office on 061-229789 for all show dates.
