LIMERICK’S hot streak of lucky Lotto winners is continuing, with families in Askeaton and Newcastle West celebrating €500,000 wins in recent days.

After two local €1m top prize wins in the National Lottery’s new Daily Million game - one of which remains uncollected - a third huge prize has been won in the game, with a couple from Askeaton winning €500,000 on the Daily Million Plus.

The couple, who collected their prize in Dublin this Wednesday but do not wish to be named, bought their lucky €3 Quick Pick ticket in Ryan’s Centra, Clonreask, Askeaton on Sunday.

The delighted winners told of their surprise at winning the massive prize.

“I’ve always played Lotto games but the most I’ve ever won was €4,” said the happy wife. “I checked the results for Daily Million online on Sunday night and couldn’t believe it when I saw I’d matched the numbers in the Plus draw. I woke up my husband but he thought I was joking and told me to go to sleep!”

Meanwhile, the happy couple from Newcastle West who won the €500,000 top prize in the EuroMillions Plus game travelled to Dublin last Friday to collect their prize.

They won the whopping prize with a €18 Multi Draw ticket, which they bought in Newcastle West post office on October 5.

The couple, who again wish their win to remain a private one, are both in employment and have a grown-up family and sipped coffee and champagne in National Lottery HQ as they told of how they found out they had won a tax-free cash fortune.

“I was up early on Wednesday morning, had a look at Aertel and there were my Plus numbers. I was dumbfounded! I was almost here before – twice – when I was only one number away from winning the top €500,000 prize. So it’s third time lucky for me,” they said, adding that they intend to spend the money on “looking after family” and going to New York.
