MILFORD Care Centre will be the big winner from a charity bingo night, coffee evening and annual dance.
The three events in just over a week in Cappamore will raise thousands of euros for the specialist care providers.
It kicks off with a special bingo night in the community centre on Thursday, September 26. There will be €3,000 in prizes and they get an especially large crowd because it is for Milford, says Tommy Ryan, assistant secretary of the Cappamore Development Association.
“All the proceeds will go to Milford. Everybody knows somebody who has received fantastic care there, it is a great cause,” said Tommy.
The bingo committee have been putting on this special event for over seven years and they hand over around €2,000 to Sr Phyllis each year. It starts at 8.30pm and draws crowds from Tipperary, Clare, Cork as well as surrounding parishes.
It is run in conjunction with a coffee evening in O’Dwyer’s Bar and Lounge on the same evening at 8pm. Bingo players always stroll over after the bingo and get a warm reception from Kathleen O’Dwyer and all the team. Again Milford is the beneficiary from the coffee evening.
Then on Saturday, October 5, John and Nancy O’Neill’s annual dance takes place in Hayes’ function room.
This is their fourth year running the event and it brings in approximately €5,000 every year.
In 2012, they had the Joe Dolan Tribute Band and the O’Neills have another fantastic act this time.
“We have The Sugar Cubes. The lead singer is Karen Black who many will know from the Nevada showband. They would have played in the Oyster Ballroom in Dromkeen,” said John. Tickets are just €10 and available on the night or from John in advance.
While the day before the dance, October 4. Limerick’s Live 95FM’s 95 Stop Tour will be calling to Cappamore.
