Jumping In The City is an initiative supported by Horse Racing Ireland, the Irish Greyhound Board and Showjumping Ireland that aims to bring equestrian sports to a whole new audience in the heart of Limerick, Cork and Dublin.

It all begins on Friday, June 5 (gates opening at 5.30pm) with three different classes of competition for grassroots riders, a grand prix for Ireland’s top horsemen and women and the crowd-pleasing puissance event where six riders will take on the huge red wall.

James Kennedy, Horse Sport Ireland, said: “I believe Jumping In The City has the potential to move show jumping in Ireland to a whole new level. We have experienced terrific success in the sport all over the world, and it’s great that people can see more of our riders and horses performing within our own cities”.

And John McCarthy, manager of Limerick Greyhound Stadium, said: “We are excited to see our state-of-the-art facilities being used for other sports such as showjumping here in Ireland’s capital city for sport”.

The event is being enthusiastically supported by the local business community with Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes encouraging member firms to consider a night’s corporate entertainment with a difference.

Limerick Chamber CEO James Ring added: “initiatives that bring people into the city and bring the city to life are very welcome. Our city has so much to offer and it’s great to see facilities being used innovatively”.

Once all the jumping is done, musical entertainment will continue into the night.
