Rugby and fireworks expected for World Club 7s in Limerick

LIMERICK is set to welcome a host of rugby 7s fans this weekend, with Thomond Park the venue for the first staging of the new club tournament in Ireland.

LIMERICK is set to welcome a host of rugby 7s fans this weekend, with Thomond Park the venue for the first staging of the new club tournament in Ireland.

Thousands of rugby crazy 7s fans are expected to throng the stadium as part of the first ever Limerick World Club 7’s tournament, which is being held this Saturday and Sunday and features a host of teams, including a Munster selection.

12 teams from across the globe will all compete in the tournament, with teams from the northern and southern hemispheres.

There will also be a biq buzz in the city with the Milk Market acting as the focal point on Saturday night with a firework show lighting up the river.

Local businesses are also supporting the event through a number of initiatives including an Embassy partnership, which will see 11 Limerick pubs pair up with the visiting teams to act as an official ‘home venue’ for each one.

Tickets for the World Club 7’s can be purchased from €15 on www.ticketmaster.ie, with day tickets, weekend passes and family tickets all available.
