Argos to create jobs in Limerick for Christmas

MORE than 50 jobs are expected to be created by Argos in Limerick ahead of the busy Christmas period.

There may be more than three months to go before December 25 but the retail giant, which has three outlets in Limerick city, has just launched its annual recruitment drive for seasonal workers.

The company, which has been in Ireland for fifteen years already employs more than 1,300 people in stores across the country.

“Argos is a fun, interesting and busy place to be over Christmas so we are excited about finding passionate and enthusiastic staff that can join the team,” said Terry Duddy, managing director of Argos.

“With thousands of customers passing through our doors over the (Christmas) period, the new recruits will really help us deliver great customer service this Christmas,” he added.

The company, which has 41 stores across the country and more than 750 in the UK, is looking to hire around 800 people who will be each be employed for several months.

The exact number of positions which will be filled in Limerick is unclear but it is expected to be somewhere between 50 and 60.

The company says the workers will have flexible working hours, training and competitive pay and that they will also receive a staff discount during their period of employment.

According to Terry Duddy some of those who are hired for the Christmas period may even end up securing permanent roles early in the new year.

Argos has had a presence in Limerick since 1986 when it opened its store at Cruises Street in the city centre.

Since then it has expanded its operations and currently has stores at the Crescent Shopping Centre and the Childers Road Retail Park.

More information on the seasonal jobs can be found at www.argoscareers.com/christmas or in any of the Limerick stores.
