THE stepson of a retired army corporal has appeared before Limerick District Court charged with the manslaughter of his stepfather at their home in Prospect last year.
Stephen O'Grady, 45, died after he was stabbed a number of times during a row at the house at Lenihan Avenue during the early hours of November 29, 2007.
This Wednesday, Damien O'Grady, 26, of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect was formally charged with killing Stephen O'Grady after investigating gardai received directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Det Garda Paul Madden , Roxboro, said the accused made no reply when he was charged at Roxboro Garda station at 9. 25am. Damien O'Grady was granted free legal aid as he is currently not working.
Insp Gerry McNamara, Roxboro, said gardai had no objection to bail and the defendant was remanded on bail to appear before the same court again on September 16, next.
Judge Tom O'Donnell ordered him to sign on three times a week at Roxboro Garda station and he must not apply for a Passport until the case against him has concluded.
