A NUMBER of separate investigations are underway after an employee of Limerick City Council died in a workplace accident at a cemetery on the outskirts of the city this morning.
51-year-old Martin Duhig, who worked in the council's cemetery department, died when he fell awkwardly while digging a grave at Mount St Oliver Cemetery.
Shocked colleagues looked on in horror as paramedics rendered assistance to the father of two, who had worked with the local authority for over 25 years.
Despite attempts to resuscitate the St Mary's Park native he was pronounced dead at St John's Hospital shortly after 10am.
