CRIMINAL elements in Limerick were dealt another significant blow over the weekend when gardai seized a massive amount of explosives, which were destined for a gang based on the Southside of the city.
The seizure of 17.5kgs of commercial explosives including gelignite in county Galway, was made less than 72 hours after police in Holland recovered over 200 guns, many of which it is believed were destined for the same criminal gang.

A number of people were arrested following the Europe-wide operation on Friday evening when a car was intercepted in Oranmore.

Four men and a woman were still being questioned this Monday in relation to the Galway explosives seizure, which was made as part of an ongoing operation against organised crime in the West of Ireland.
