THE Government has given its support to measures recommended in the interim report from the Mid-West jobs task force, which was established following Dell's decision to cease its manufacturing operations in Raheen.
Specific recommendations include the fast-tracking of the regeneration process, the establishment of a dedicated cargo hub at Shannon Airport and the construction of an enterprise park in Anacotty.

The task-force, which is headed by Denis Brosnan, has also recommended increased investment in major infrastructural projects across the region.

Defence Minister Willie O'Dea says there was a good discussion about the report.

"The Government has committed to many of the recommendations of the report and I have promised to keep and eye on things on the ground and we agreed that there should be another report from the task-force in six months time," he said.
