OVER 60 jobs have been announced for Limerick today, as a global technology company is to establish its European operations centre at Riverpoint in the city.

Fine Gael deputy for Limerick city Kieran O’Donnell has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, that Worldwide Tech Services (WWTS), a leading global IT solutions provider, is establishing a centre in the heart of Limerick city, creating 62 new high-value jobs.

“The new European operations centre in Limerick city will service Europe, the Middle East and Africa. As WWTS clients include some of the biggest technology providers in the world, including Dell, HP, Sony, Canon and Apple, this will further reinforce Limerick’s reputation as an IT hub.

“These are high-value jobs in a high-growth area and this investment sends out a very strong positive signal about Limerick city as a location for cutting-edge world class investments into the future. We will continue to work to secure more investments of this calibre for Limerick.

“A key aspect of this investment is that these jobs are going into Riverpoint in the city centre itself. We need investments like this in order to develop Limerick city centre. The fact that Minister Bruton is announcing the jobs in Limerick on the same day as we hold a forum on the Action Plan for Jobs in the city, as the first in a nationwide series of meetings, shows the intent we have regarding job creation in Limerick.

The announcement comes just over a month after Vistakon announced its €100 million investment in Plassey with 100 manufacturing jobs to be created.
