THE Dernish oil jetty, which cost £180,000, was inaugurated today by the Minister for Transport and Power Peter Barry.

The new jetty is unique as it is linked directly with refuelling services at Shannon Airport.

The jetty is primarily intended to accommodate vessels of the 3,000 to 5,000-ton class, the type normally used in the fuel trade, but is designed to also handle vessels of up to 12,000 , said Senator GE Russell in his address.
