Scaling the heights: Cusack’s stands proud in BIM Seafood Circle

IRELAND’S oldest fish company, Rene Cusack Limited, has again achieved membership of the prestigious Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) Seafood Circle for its continued excellence in delivering the fruits of the sea from the ocean depths to the dinner plate.
A plaque marking the achievement now takes pride of plaice at Cusack’s fishmongers on Alphonsus Street, while the company’s Milk Market and Ennis branches have also been honoured in the 2012 awards.
Established in 1910 by Michael Cusack, the business employs 25 people in its retail and wholesale operations and as supplier to major players such as Pallas Foods, their produce is delivered daily to all 32 counties. Paul Cusack, who is the fourth generation of his family to run the business, said “we are absolutely thrilled to have achieved membership of the Seafood Circle this year”.
“It is a positive start to the new year and we intend on using the endorsement to grow our business. The addition of the BIM Seafood Circle membership will encourage new customers to try our produce and in the midst of a recession, it is the boost we need. We have worked hard to ensure we deliver excellent, high-quality seafood and service to our customers and I would like to thank all staff for collectively achieving the Seafood Circle and I would like to wish a very happy new year to all our customers.”
Other Limerick city businesses to achieve membership of the Seafood Circle this year include Ken Stembridge’s Azur restaurant on George’s Quay and Mortell’s deli/restaurant on Roche’s Street.
