GRIFFITH College Limerick have launched a new online learning Master of Business Administration programme.

The college - the approved learning provider of Edinburgh Business School in Ireland - launched the Heriot-Watt MBA in the Hunt Museum this Tuesday.

The Heriot-Watt MBA is a leading online-distance-learning business qualification.

Kevin O’Sullivan, director of Griffith College Limerick, said at the launch that he was “pleased and delighted to form this partnership with Edinburgh Business School”.

“The Heriot-Watt MBA is a much coveted and sought after MBA, as much for its quality as for its flexibility,” he explained.

Voted the Scottish University of the Year in 2011/2012 and ranked in the top 20 by the Guardian university league tables 2012/2013, Edinburgh Business School is also listed as the largest MBA programme in the world by the Financial Times.

“At a time when education and up-skilling are key components to thriving in the work force, this online MBA will allow those who may not otherwise have had the time to undertake an MBA, to now do so,” stressed Mr O’Sullivan.

The course was originally offered by HSI in Limerick before it closed last year.

Participants of the MBA will be given a solid theoretical grounding in a range of business disciplines and students will gain core knowledge of subjects fundamental to management.

The course is designed to allow students to fit study around their existing personal and work commitments without having to relocate or take a break from their careers.

Students can opt to study full-time over 18 months or part-time over two years. The first course will begin in September 2012 and applications are currently being considered. See www.gcl.ie/mba.
