UP TO 3,000 women - and some men posing as women in drag - will race for charity, fitness and the sheer fun of it at the Limerick Women’s Mini Marathon this Sunday.

Here are the essential details:

The 8km (5 mile) race will take place in the surroundings of the University of Limerick campus this October 14, at 12 noon - NOT AT 2PM as it was scheduled in previous years.

Entries for the race will be taken at the Pery Hotel, from this Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm.

Participants can pick up their race number, t-shirt and goodie bag, worth more than double the entry price, at the University of Limerick Arena on Saturday, from 1-5pm, or on Sunday from 8.30am.

There will be prize money for the first ten women past the finish line with first place getting €500. There will also be age category prizes and spot prizes.

Entry forms can still be downloaded online, at a cost of €20 to participate, or found in the Limerick Leader office or Limerick’s Live 95FM.

Participants can also attend Limerick racecourse after the race and avail of a special entry price of €10 from 2.25pm.

If you have a query regarding your entry, please call Edel O’Shea on 087-6897735.
