There it is again in black and white

IT can't be the weather anyway, but something else is really hot this summer season. Black and white footwear with matching bag is the big fashion story of the day, according to Chris Saars at King's Shoes in O'Connell Street.

To say that the monochrome fad has taken us all by surprise is an understatement. There we were in brilliant Spring sunshine, tottering around in all the hues of the rainbow. Then the heavens opened and classic black and white made everything else look positively gaudy on the feet.

Well not exactly; "Animal prints are also very much sought after and will continue into the next season, such is their versatility," said Chris.

Good! Because we are all on our feet a lot these days, and we just can't be changing our shoes that often at the whim of the fashion industry.

Kings have some fantastic new brands making their debut in the shop this month. They include Beverly Feldman, designer to the Hollywood stars no less. So who said Ireland's hour hasn't come?

The brand is exclusive in Limerick to Kings.

One of our favourites at Kings, however, is Gabriela Castro, a shoe designer from Buenos Aires. Castro is a great success in her own country and also in Spain.

But really it's the season of the shoe and the matching bag, and Kings have an unbelievable range of both. From dressy shoes and peep toes to wedge sandals and Mascaro ballerinas, there's something to suit everyone.

Even if it's just comfort you're after, you won't bother with anything else after trying their casual Italian leather moccasins. And if comfort is the last thing on your mind, then you'll be wowed by a lovely range of jewellery encrusted sandals the only answer for that special occasion.

There's bags of fun too. Just in at Kings is a L Credi range of oversized handbags in a variety of styles and colours, ideal for dressing up a casual outfit and even more useful for holding the keys of the car and the kitchen sink if you want.
