Search is on for Limerick's curvy role models

CURVACEOUS local ladies are being encouraged to flaunt their curves this weekend at the Limerick heats of the Simply Be Curvy 2010 competition.

The modelling event for ladies size 14 or over has been existence since 2007 and once again this year, the team at Simply Be are looking for a new face for their Spring 2010 catalogue.

The organisers say they have received thousands of entries from Munster ladies and they are encouraging new applicants to come see them this Saturday, August 22, at the Strand Hotel in Limerick.

Simply Be's commercial manager, Brenda O'Sullivan said: ''If you're meant to naturally be a size 14 or more we feel that not alone should you have access to great fashion that fits but also a chance to celebrate that curvy body! - And, that's what 'Simply Be Curvy 2010' is all about.

Successful applicants from the Limerick heat will go forward to the Simply Be Curvy final on September 19 in Dublin, where contestants will take part in a runway show, wearing clothes from SimplyBe.ie.

TV star and stylist Gok Wan will lead the judging panel, which will include TV3's Alan Hughes, journalist Siobhan O'Connor and Irish Independent fashion editor Bairbre Power.

As always Limerick fashion guru Celia Holman Lee will be on hand to guide the ladies on the catwalk. She is encouraging any Limerick ladies with an interest in modelling and fashion to give it a go.

"The average Irish woman is a size 16, not a size zero! There are some beautiful Limerick ladies out there who would look fantastic up there on the catwalk for the national finals and I hope they come out on Saturday and do us proud," Ms Holman Lee said, adding that last year's winner Sarah Doyle from Dublin was "sensational".

There has traditionally been a strong Limerick presence in previous finals and Ms Holman Lee said she hoped that this year would be no different.
