My Week..with Celia Holman Lee
I really admire business people who fly in the face of the recession.
As a businesswoman myself, I appreciate how difficult it is to run your own venture when times are good, let alone during a downturn. So I was delighted to attend the opening of Aroma Coffee House on Roches Street.
Roches Street has always had a special place in my heart - it has everything, from a jewellers to a fishmongers, to fabulous boutiques and beyond. It really is a gem in the middle of the city.
Congratulations to Kieran Scullane and the Ryan family and I wish them the very best of luck with their new venture. And by the way their coffee is divine!
Nowadays we hear so many stories of couples getting married abroad, but I must admit I'm a traditionalist, I love Irish weddings. Especially with the breathtaking scenery that the country boasts. One such fabulous venue is the Dunloe Castle Hotel in Kerry. We were asked to take part in a wedding fair there recently and we had a wonderful day. The surrounding views from the castle were out of this world. If you are in the area, you simply must pay a visit to this charming hotel.
During a trip to the Powerscourt Centre, I visited Courtville Antiques for a browse and got chatting to proprietor Grainne Pierse.
Grainne's mother Catherine first established the jewellers in 1964 in Tipperary town. In 1981, her daughter Catherine took over the business and transferred it to Powerscourt, where it has remained ever since.
The store has some gorgeous pieces, including, Victorian Jewellery and Pearl chokers with antique diamond and precious stone clasps are a major feature of Courtville Antiques. Rare and delicate pieces of Edwardian enamel jewellery can also be found there.
I must congratulate Emir Irwin O'Shea won won best dressed lady at the Dublin Horse Show last week. Thrifty Emir wore the same linen bustier jumpsuit at the Galway Races and I remember seeing her and thinking it was a showstopping outfit. Glam Emir's mother of course hails from Limerick, so that explains a lot! Chat to you next week.
