Developer confident over Limerick creamery project
The former creamery / Co-op store in Annacotty
THE developers behind proposals for a new village centre near the former Annacotty Creamery have expressed confidence the project will go ahead.
Five years ago, Alchemy Properties were given the green light by An Bord Pleanala to redevelop the site.
Plans included the construction of two three-storey retail/residential blocks, with 14 apartments and 52 car parking spaces.
It would involve conservation works to the creamery itself and the relocation of the brickwork chimney, both protected structures.
The Mulcair Drive Residents Association appealed the application, citing heritage, traffic, appearance and height among other things.
But the project fell victim to the economic climate, and did not go ahead.
Now, Carrigdubh Holdings has sought an extension to the five-year period for planning permission.
In documents, they said because the climate is more favourable now, progress can “realistically be considered.”
