He took ill over 10 days ago in China and died in Bejing on Monday afternoon. Extremely popular, John a native of Dublin, first lived in Killaloe and later in Croagh.

He later opened a golf shop in Catherine Street in the heart of Limerick and was very popular with the golf community in the Mid-West.

His outgoing personality made him extremely popular, especially with those who got lessons from him over the years.

Eighteen months ago he got a chance to work as a professional in China, and was there until his untimely death.

Arrangements were being made this week to have his remains flown home. He was married to Fiona and was father to Jack and Lucy.
