Marcus Horan to open 27th Milford Harvest Fair on Sunday

MUNSTER Rugby star Marcus Horan is to officially open the 27th Milford Hospice Harvest Fair this Sunday, which seems set to be blessed with good weather.
The Munster prop will officially open the fair - one of the biggest annual events of its kind in the Mid-West region - at 1.30pm this Sunday in the Unigolf complex, where the popular family day has been held for the past five years.
Thousands are expected to stream into the fair, which will be open until 5pm.
Despite the good weather forecast for the weekend, organisers are prepared for any change, with over 12,000 square feet of tented village to host the event.
Returning is perennial favourite the Wheel of Fortune, while there will be live music, an impressive array of stalls, face-painting, barbecues and Munster’s largest rally of vintage cars and Harley Davidson’s.
Joe Murphy, Harvest Fair Committee, said: “The Harvest Fair Committee has been working hard in preparing for this event and we look forward to delivering a successful day”.
“This will be the perfect family day out as the whole site of many acres is given over to the tented village which really makes the fair weatherproof. I would urge the public to continue its loyal support of the Harvest Fair and welcome everyone especially those who have not visited before,” he added.
Munster’s Horan urged people to come out and support the event.
“The fair is well-timed as it does not clash with any major sporting events so hopefully even more members of the public can attend and enjoy a family fun day out all in support of Milford Hospice,” he said.
Milford CEO Pat Quinlan explained that the Harvest Fair is the “largest single voluntary fundraising event in our fundraising calendar”.
“From Milford’s perspective it is our biggest fundraising event. It allows people to have a fun day out and at the same time to support Milford’s services,” he explained.
“We see our services as being patient centred and we very much appreciate the support. As a service provider our goal is to continue to provide high quality services to people across the region. If we can get the support, our commitment is to maintain the services. This is a great opportunity for people to come and support us and hopefully we will be able to provide them with a great day out,” he added.
Entrance to the Harvest Fair will be from Groody Roundabout.
