A LIMERICKMAN was the jewel in the crown at the National ISS GEM (Go the Extra Mile awards.

The ceremony in Athlone recognises excellence and rewards outstanding achievements of individuals who are often the unsung and unseen heroes providing cleaning, security, catering and property services all over Ireland.

Top honours this year went to Adrian Reilly, from Dooradoyle, who is an ISS operative at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital.

“The event rewards those people who are the ‘people behind the people’ who provide services to keep corporate wheels turning all over Ireland. Adrian epitomises that and we congratulate him on his award,” said a spokesperson.

ISS provides 3,500 jobs in Ireland with a turnover in excess of €75 million.

Their employees regularly work through the night to maintain standards of excellence.

In more extreme cases, ISS employees are the first point of contact for emergencies such as storm damage, floods, snow and ice. ISS plays an essential role in the support network required for many memorable national events.

They were the “people behind the people” when President Barack Obama visited Ireland and played an important supporting role in the Queen’s historic visit.

ISS has a nationwide footprint with offices located in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Drogheda, and Letterkenny and operates in a wide range of industry sectors including healthcare, transport, education, medical devices/pharmaceuticals, IT and business services and hotels.
