Restaurants across Limerick and the Shannon region are reporting a ‘fantastic response’ to the 2012 Love Gourmet Week which began last Friday, June 1 and runs until this Sunday, June 10.

Eleven top restaurants are offering an outstanding fine dining experience at exceptional prices as part of Love Gourmet Week which celebrates local fare and organic food while promoting Limerick as a foodie destination.

All participating restaurants are featuring superb menus priced at €35 per person offering unique culinary specials with locally sourced produce.

Executive chef Tom Flavin at The River Restaurant, Limerick Strand Hotel, said he is ‘overwhelmed’ with the response from regular and new diners.

“We had a full restaurant on Saturday and Sunday and we’re delighted with the numbers who are booking for the rest of the week and really enjoying the whole Love Gourmet Week experience,” Tom said.

“We are thrilled to be part of such a great initiative and we feel it can only grow as an event such is its success so far.”

Love Gourmet Week 2012 was launched at the Hunt Museum at a gourmet evening which featured the best restaurants, producers and suppliers from the Mid-West in a ‘pop-up’ restaurant style at the venue. See {www.facebook.com/lovegourmetweek and twitter #lovegourmetweek for more.
