A RELATIVE of feud victim Noel Campion narrowly escaped injury in a drive-by shooting in Caherdavin on Monday night.
The middle-aged woman was entering a house at Pinewood Avenue at approximately 10.45pm when a gunman opened fire from a passing car. A bullet struck a window next to where she was standing, but the woman was not hurt.

The woman is related to Noel Campion, who was shot dead in the Thomondgate area last April. The shooting was linked to the ongoing feud in the city.

Garda forensic experts carried out a forensic examination of the scene in Caherdavin yesterday. A Garda spokesperson said that they are looking for a dark green saloon vehicle which was seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting.

This latest shooting incident is particularly striking as it took place outside the usual flashpoints of feud activity in the city. In recent weeks, Gardai have increased their presence in Moyross, St Mary's Park, Ballinacurra Weston and Southill in an attempt to quell feud-related activity.
